Paula Lucas

Founder and Executive Director of the Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center. Paula fled back to the USA, after living in Europe and the Middle East for 14 years, with her three sons to escape domestic violence and child abuse in April 1999. She founded the organization in September 1999 as an on-line resource while she and her children were still living in a domestic violence shelter. In April 2001, Paula established a domestic violence crisis line that was toll free internationally, 866USWOMEN. Paula now travels nationally & internationally giving a voice to an underserved population of Americans suffering with domestic violence overseas.

Caitlin McGuan

Caitlin graduated from the University of Oregon where she majored in anthropology and sociology and studied
abroad in Nicaragua and Grenada. Caitlin volunteered with the Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis
Center for 18 months and became the Crisis Line Supervisor in October 2008. Caitlin has also supervised
child visitation for high risk domestic violence cases. Caitlin mentors teens who are transitioning out
of the foster care system. She also volunteers as a home hospice companion. Working hands-on with families
has inspired her to help those directly affected by domestic violence as well as the community at large.

Brooke Galloway

Brooke has been with the Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center since March of 2009. She graduated from Northern Arizona University where she majored in psychology and women’s studies. Brooke is currently obtaining her Masters in International Conflict Resolution from Portland State University. She recently returned from Cyprus where she spent five months researching the conflict and interning at a civil society nonprofit. Brooke is also a project coordinator with the African Diaspora Dialogue Project. Her experience and education with conflict resolution stems from her background working with survivors of domestic violence. Experiencing the courage of domestic violence survivors has made a lasting impression on Brooke and she is motivated to focus her career on advocating for nonviolence.

Noelle Donahue
International Crisis Line Advocate

Noelle is a student at Portland State University majoring in Psychology. She is passionate about people, women’s issues and is working to counter social injustice. Noelle volunteered with The Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center for 12 months and became the International Crisis Line Advocate in June of 2009. Noelle also serves on the board of a local non-profit that provides educational scholarships to students in East Africa.

Rebecca Luxenburg

Originally from Minneapolis, Rebecca moved to Portland in 2005 after graduating from Earlham College with a B.A. in Women’s Studies. She spent three years managing In Other Words Women’s Books and Resources and served on the board of directors of Siren Nation Women’s Music and Art Festival. She is currently pursuing a certificate in non-profit management and an MBA from the University of Portland. In her free time she likes to write, cook, bike, and spend time with her cat friends. Rebecca came to the crisis line in May of 2009 as the Development and Communications Intern and is continuing on as Office Assistant.

Sam Ardestani
Sam has have been an international crisis line volunteer since November of 2005. The international aspect of our work is what moved Sam to become an advocate with us. She will graduate in June with a degree in Spanish from Portland State University. In the coming years, she looks forward to traveling and furthering her language studies. Sam enjoys watching foreign films.
