Executive Director, Paula Lucas, was the Heinz Family Foundation R.O.S.E. Achievement Award 2003 recipient, at the 10th Anniversary Rose Award Celebrations held in Boston, Massachusetts at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel.

Portland State University Capstone Students perform a Street Theatre in downtown Portland, Oregon. Wearing masks and duct tape over their mouths and around their wrists, and wearing the stories of abused American women and children in foreign countries around their necks, students look up to a tearful Statue of Liberty and a blind-folded Uncle Sam. The theatre was peformed to raise awareness of the plight of abused American's overseas.

Paula Lucas receives the Sunshine Peace Foundation award from Doris Buffet in Willmington, North Carolina. In addition to giving Paula a personal award, Ms. Buffet is a continuing supporter of the American Domestic Violence Crisis Line, and has provided funds in 2002 and 2003 to support the program's direct crisis services.
